PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor

The PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor program is your final step in the quest to become a PADI Instructor. During the IDC, you'll learn to use and adapt the PADI System of diver education to individual student needs. Comprehensive training, supported by a wide variety of PADI educational materials, earns PADI Instructors respect from both students and peers.

What will I need to start?

You will need to be a PADI Assistant Instructor or be an instructor in good standing with another training organization. Have been a certified diver for at least six months and have 60 logged dives that include night, deep and navigation. Have proof of CPR training within the last 24 months and have medical clearance signed by a physician.

What will I do?

You will develop knowledge through self-study, quizzes, lectures and presentations. Complete confined water skill reviews, assessments, workshops and presentations. As well as open water workshops, candidate presentations, and a rescue assessment.

How long will it take?

All PADI programs are performance based. The course can vary from as little as four days to more than two weeks.

What do I bring?

At this level of training it is expected that you will own a full set of equipment however, tanks and weights can be supplied if required.

The PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor rating sets you apart from the crowd. PADI Instructors may:

• Conduct the entire range of PADI programs - from Discover Scuba Diving through Divemaster.
• Teach Emergency First Response after successful completion of an Emergency
• First Response Instructor course.
• Do things others can only dream about.

Where can I go from here?

As a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor you can enrol on one of the many PADI Specialty Instructor courses. On completion of five PADI Specialty Instructor Courses and the certification of 25 students you may become a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer.
