The Farne Islands

The Diving

Diving around the Farne Islands is described as a real feast for your senses. With numerous wrecks and a feast of marine life including the infamous common seal, there is plenty for every diver.  Some dive locations even provide the opportunity to combine diving with bird watching, in particular the Pinnacles is a great location to spot Guillemots fishing at safety stop depth making an enjoyable experience.

Marine Life

The Farne Islands are a popular destination for any wildlife lover.

Above the water, you will be spoilt to the huge number of local sea birds including Puffins, Terns, Guillemots and Razorbills to name a few.

Underwater and you will be treated to a large variety of anemone, spider crabs, lobsters, sponge and dead men’s fingers, Wrasse and Octopus. The Farne waters are also home to some unusual species which include Conger eels, Wolf Fish, and Ballan Wrasse to name a few.

Wrecks

Steeped in history, there are many wrecks resting at a variety of depths from 6 to 30 meters plus waiting to be explored. These include The Britannia (8-30metres), The SS Abbyssinia (12-23 meters), the popular Somali (30 Meters) and St Andre (17-25 meters) to name a few.  

The Boats

We will be diving off chartered boats, which are licensed to carry 12 passengers. Aboard the boat you will find tea and coffee making facilities, toilets, a large dive deck and a vast range of safety equipment. For easy access on and off the boat with full equipment, there is the all important accessible stern diver lift.

The boats are fully insured and you will be accompanied by experienced skippers with M.C.A and R.Y.A licenses along with a vast knowledge and experience of the Farne Islands.

Accommodation

For 3 nights (there is the option of a 4th night for an extra £20) we will be staying in accommodation supplied by Farne Diving Services consisting  of 3 Double, 10 Twin and 2 Family rooms,  This is a Bed and breakfast accommodation which includes tea/coffee, fruit juice, cereals and a full English breakfast available (vegetarian option is also available).

The Trip

This trip is a 3 day mid week trip leaving Ipswich on a Sunday and returning home on the Wednesday evening after diving. We will be diving on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, with 2 booked boat dives per day.

The Price £220

Please note - This price is currently subjective to change, thus on booking we ask for a £100 deposit whilst prices are being confirmed).
This includes 3 days boat diving consisting of 2 booked boat dives per day, three nights B&B at local accommodation and a Galaxsea Divers Representative.  

There are equipment considerations and the minimum experience level is PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or alternative) with at least 25 logged dives.
