Medical Oxygen Rebreather (MO2R)

As your diving skills and confidence increase, you may want to voyage further afield to explore less visited reefs and wrecks.  But in the event of an accident it would take longer to get help from the emergency services, and your oxygen supplies could run out.

Join Galaxsea Divers to build on your DAN Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries qualification by learning how use the DAN Medical Oxygen Rebreather (MO2R) to treat a casualty with high concentrations of oxygen for up to eight hours.

What do I need to start?

Candidates must have successfully completed the DAN Oxygen First Aid for Scuba Diving Injuries course and passed the exam.

What will I do?

The DAN Medical Oxygen Rebreather course consists of knowledge development, skills development and assessment. You will be trained to recognise where a MO2R system will be an effective method of providing emergency oxygen first aid to an injured diver, and how to assemble and use the equipment to provide emergency oxygen first. The MO2R System will help a responsive and breathing injured diver where there is substantial distance to the nearest medical facility or delay to the next level of emergency response.

By the end of the course you will:

• be familiar with the indications for use, the operation and the safety concerns of the MO2R
• be able to demonstrate the skills to assemble and use the MO2R to provide oxygen to an injured diver
• be able to follow and complete the MO2R system operational checklist
• be confident and competent at scene assessment and oxygen provider safety
• be confident and competent in the deployment and operation of the DAN Oxygen Unit
• be familiar with the main component parts of the MO2R
• be able to confidently and competently set-up and use of the MO2R System

How long will it take?

The DAN Medical Oxygen Rebreather course is a half-day classroom-based course, but your instructor will work with you for as long as needed for you to feel confident and competent in your skills.
